Why Red Kite?
The success of the Red Kite conservation project in the UK demonstrates how people can make a positive impact on the sustainability of our planet. The population of Red Kites in the UK has increased from a few pairs to over 1,800 pairs in less than 30 years.
We hope that our trips will inspire a generation of change-makers who are prepared to act on local and global issues.
About Our People
Matt Rappel - Founder & Managing Director
When I made the decision to move on from my 28 years in education, I knew exactly which direction I wanted to take. Inspired by the many trips I had the pleasure of setting up, leading, and participating in during those years, Red Kite Adventures was born.
Through travel, I experienced first-hand the incredible opportunities for students to grow beyond those that a traditional classroom could provide. The trips that have made the most impact on students, myself, and indeed the planet have without doubt been those with a focus on conservation and social equity. When done well, with the right partners, a trip focused on sustainable development can provide authentic, long-term benefits to the local environment and its communities. I have also witnessed how this can be the spark that gets students to take on their own responsibility for the health of our planet and inspire them to make a difference.
