Day 1 - Arrival Day - Tbilisi

Saturday 20th June

Arrive in Georgia’s capital and transfer to your hotel. Today is intentionally unstructured, allowing time to rest after travel, settle into your surroundings, and begin absorbing the atmosphere of the city. Depending on arrival times, there may be the opportunity for a gentle walk or informal dinner, but the focus is simply on arrival and easing into the journey ahead.

Meals: Not included

Accommodation: Brim Tbilisi

Day 2 - Old Town Exploration & Khachapuri Tasting

Sunday 21st June

We begin our journey in Tbilisi, a city where ancient history and everyday life sit side by side. Exploring the old town on foot, we pass terraced hillsides, wooden balconies and historic streets, visiting Metekhi Church and taking a short cable-car ride to Narikala Fortress for panoramic views. The walk continues through the sulphur bath district, built around the natural hot springs that gave the city its name.

Lunch introduces Georgia’s iconic khachapuri, with tastings of several regional styles. Among them is the Adjarian version from the Black Sea coast, shaped like a small boat with melted cheese and an egg yolk symbolising the sea and the sun, a traditional wish for sailors to return home safely.

Day 3 - Kakheti Wine Region & Sighnaghi

Monday 22nd June

Today we travel east into Kakheti, Georgia’s most hospitable region and the heart of its winemaking traditions. Our first stop is the 18th-century hill town of Sighnaghi, where tiled rooftops, wooden balconies and old city walls overlook the Alazani Valley and the snow-capped Caucasus Mountains.

We then visit a local family home, where three generations live and farm together. Here, lunch is prepared using fresh produce from their garden, and guests can take part in hands-on activities such as baking traditional bread, preparing barbecue and making churchkhela, a sweet made from grape juice and walnuts. The meal follows the style of a Georgian supra, with shared dishes and a tamada guiding toasts and stories.

In the afternoon, we visit the Kindzmarauli winery for a wine and cheese pairing, followed by a traditional cellar producing natural BIO wines in qvevri, clay vessels buried underground, a method recognised by UNESCO as Intangible Cultural Heritage. Overnight in Telavi.

Day 4 - Markets, Mountains & Craft

Tuesday 23rd June

The morning begins at the farmers’ market in Telavi, a lively snapshot of everyday life where local fruit, vegetables, cheeses and spices are sold. From here, we drive through the countryside to Tianeti and continue along the Georgian Military Highway, the historic route towards the northern border.

We stop at the 17th-century Ananuri architectural complex, dramatically overlooking the Zhinvali reservoir, before lunch at a local restaurant to taste khinkali, the region’s famous mountain dumplings. The journey continues through the high Caucasus Mountains, with sweeping views before reaching Stepantsminda. We visit Gergeti Trinity Church, set high above the valley with Mount Kazbegi as its backdrop, followed by a visit to a small workshop where traditional felt-making techniques are demonstrated. Overnight in Stepantsminda.

Day 5 - Mtskheta | Georgia’s Spiritual Heart

Wednesday 24th June

In the morning, we drive back towards Tbilisi, stopping in Mtskheta, Georgia’s ancient capital and spiritual centre with a history of more than 3,000 years. Here, we visit Jvari Monastery and Svetitskhoveli Cathedral, both UNESCO World Heritage Sites and among the most significant examples of Georgian religious architecture.

Lunch is at a local restaurant, focusing on traditional dishes made with walnuts, a key ingredient in Georgian cuisine. After lunch, we continue to Tbilisi for the evening. Overnight in Tbilisi.

Day 6 - Market Visit & Cooking Experience

Thursday 25th June

This morning, we travel by metro to a local farmers’ market, where we meet our host from a residential neighbourhood of Tbilisi. Together, we select fresh, seasonal ingredients before returning to her home and garden to prepare a farewell lunch.

Cooking together brings together the dishes and techniques experienced throughout the journey. The meal is shared around the family table, offering time to reflect on the flavours, aromas and traditions discovered, and providing a warm and personal farewell to Georgian hospitality.
